Waldo Got a Haircut!

Waldo is SOOOOO happy! He got a haircut for the summer and I've never seen him so animated! He came home, ran into the pond. He was silly and goofy and wanted to play...a lot! He even sat on Christy's lap. He looks like a completely different dog but a happy one.

Since Waldo arrived at the end of March, he walks better, he's running, his eyes have cleared up, his paw has cleared up, he did have emergency surgery for bloat, his ribs used to be shifted to one side from always laying down the same way and those have even straightened out, he just had his teeth cleaned, and he's scheduled for a massage tomorrow (a gift from a local therapist). He really is doing well and we're so pleased in his progress. :) We love the big lug.

Jonathan+Tiffany 6.7.08

I shot a wedding with my dear friend, Ana, in Grand Junction a couple of weekends ago. What a sweet couple! So down-to-earth and it was so nice shooting their wedding: casual and fun. Not to mention how beautiful Gateway Canyons is! Ana and I were in love with the little area where we did the portraits...a lot of fun. AND it's all with my new camera! It was a great shoot and I'm so glad I went. I stayed the night at Ana's and drove back the next morning.

I had so many favorites but these are all that I've played with for now. I haven't seen Ana's but I'm sure they look great. PS - if you click on each image, a new window will pop up with a larger view for you.

Guess who? :)

Working from Home...this week

Aaaaahhhh....sooooo nice to work from home. Hard, yes, to keep focused at times but I loved being able to work on Alice's stuff, mow the lawn, work some more, lounge outside - I felt like I was able to get stuff done!! Yay! Most days the "to do" list keeps getting shoved to the side while I wait for the next day but I'm moving forward. I'm loving a day at the office, a day at home, a day at the office, a day at home. It keeps me refreshed and with this beautiful weather I can actually be outside to enjoy it.

AND for the best part....Mike and I have been able to spend some time together (!?!?!). Out to breakfast on Tuesday (yes, Village Smithy of course!) morning, lunch on Thursday (at this amazing new little restaurant Eco Goddess - yum!!). It's been really, really nice seeing him during daylight hours when one of us isn't running around trying to get out the door to work. I think we're both even at a loss at what to do since we're not used to it.

Alice and I have decided that while it's fairly slow here this month, I'll take the laptop home to work on wedding albums mostly. It'll get really, really busy in July and August but I'll take it while I can have it. I did come into the office today but it's pretty quiet. I took a walk downtown and grabbed a coffee. No Food&Wine classic celebrity sightings but that's all right with me - not really my cup of well coffee, I guess. :)

It's Friday, it's supposed to be WARM this weekend, we're going to head up to the farmer's market tomorrow in Aspen, and I just found out that Ziggy Marley will be at the Labor Day festival. It's going to be a good weekend, I think!

I shot a wedding with my good friend, Ana, in Grand Junction last weekend so that's on my list for tomorrow. The location was so beautiful and the couple were laid-back, down-to-earth, and very sweet - I can't wait to show you images!

Job Front

So, today is the big day.  I'm giving my notice at the Club.  The 27th will be my last day there.  I technically don't have another job lined up, but have quite a few different 'opportunities' lined up for me in and out of the kitchen.  Molly and I are lucky to know so many people here and they are looking out for the both of us.  I feel very confident that my number one and number two options will pan out exactly as I see them going, which feels pretty good.

It has been a good 3 1/2 years at the Club, but it is most definitely time that we part ways and I open a new chapter in my career.  There is no shame in moving on, especially in this industry where experience is everything.  I am very grateful for the experiences that I have had there and welcome the challenges that lie ahead in my career.

I am hoping to take Cisco for a ride today to celebrate.  I think he feels neglected over the past few weeks as I have been busy at work and things here at the ranch are starting to pick up.  He's a smart boy and knows that I'm thinking about him, though.  He did get a bath, which I don't think he views as a good time, but we spent some time together at least.

Recent Photo Shoots

When I was back in Illinois for (my little cousin!) Trevor's wedding (no, I wasn't the photographer but I still brought my camera) in May I did a couple of portrait sittings. One was Riley Bailey - he's the son of Burnie and Patty Bailey - great friends of Mom and Dad. I cannot believe that he's already going to be a senior in high school - blows my mind! I'm feelin' just a litttttllleeee old knowing that he's 17. I remember when the first time I met him...as an infant - I used to change his diapers!? Anyway, enough of that. He's a great kid and I hope he likes 'em. :)

Another shoot I did was little Brayden, Jessi Swanson's (Mandi's best friend) little boy for his first birthday. Very cute!
Here are a couple of my favorites of Trevor and Amie:

Shooting a wedding tomorrow with my friend, Ana, in Grand Junction. I'll post some from then too. *Molly

Anniversary Date

Today we drove to Hotchkiss to pick up some organic chicken feed at Closer To Heaven Farms. We had a beautiful drive (about 2 hours) and it was so great to spend the day together (we're not kidding - a day off together was wonderful!). Paul, the owner of the farm, gave us a great tour and then we all sat down and sampled goat milk fresh from his goats and goat cheese. It was so relaxing and just an overall great day. We both can't wait until we have our own farm...hopefully it's just right around the corner....

Thank You

Today, June 2, we are celebrating our 1st Wedding Anniversary. Wow?! Has it been that long?!...Yes, it has. This past year has just flown by faster than we ever imagined.

We want to thank, first, everyone that made our special day possible. Everyone that was able to make the trip out, everyone that worked so hard to make sure the day happened (smoothly!), and everyone that could not make it but was such a strong support system regardless. We watched our wedding video on Valentine's Day this year (and will again tonight) and we both choked up. That day went by in a flash and the video brought it all back to us. We were so surrounded by love. We wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and to soak up the beauty that surrounds us - literally: these mountains are amazing! - while they were here.

Mike and I are very, very lucky people. We have been blessed with so much in our lives. We are healthy and strong and are able to move forward in our lives each day with so much to be grateful for. Each day we learn something new about each other, about the Earth, about life around us. Our support system is so huge in the people around us that we just couldn't possibly thank each person individually on a daily basis. So here is one giant THANK YOU!!!!! to all that keep us in your thoughts, that check in when you can (we know you're busy too ;) ), and that continue to be a guiding light so-to-speak in our lives.

We are so excited for what is to come in our future and we thank you for playing a part in that.

So, even though we may not call or write or email as quickly or as often as we would like to...know that we are always thinking about you.

What's on our schedule to celebrate? Well, Mike is working today but tomorrow we're going to take a little day trip to Hotchkiss to look at some organic chicken feed...yes, chicken feed...but it'll be a nice drive and hopefully we have beautiful weather. :) We did order a fresh cake (we didn't freeze the top layer for a year) from our friends, Sandy and Nan of Classic Cakes of Aspen (who make incredible cakes and did our wedding) and we can't wait to finish that off!

Also in celebration we have made a small donation to: Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org)

With Love,
Molly and Mike

Here We Go...

Hello.....

I (Molly) have decided that I'm terrible at keeping up with emails. It's not that I don't love you all but I've found that I'm running thin trying to keep up with everything that we've pilled on our over-achieving plates.

SO...I've created this blog for Mike and I to post the goings-on in our lives and hopefully it'll be fun and creative. Don't know how successful this will be but hoping it'll be a great place to check in with us.

We'll see how we do.....

Molly :)
